Spring Cleaning… Domainer Style

It’s been a month since my last post. Boy, does time fly when you’re busy. January has already passed but for those of us living and working down here in Cabo, it feels like the first 15 days. So what’s kept me away the last month? Two very important projects we’ve been focusing on with all of our efforts since the start of the New Year.

First off, we’re putting together our very first show; the first nautical and boating event of its kind in Los Cabos, right in the heart of the Cabo San Lucas marina. We have great support so far and will be launching our PR campaign by mid February.

The second project I’ve been obsessing about is the acquisition, development and management of a third party domain we currently work with—something I’ve wanted to acquire for quite some time now and have been working relentlessly on since the start of the New Year.

Given the current numbers for the Mexico travel market so far this year, it’s been challenging. Occupancy is down across the board compared to previous years during peak winter season and advertisers have been holding back due to a lack of cash flow.

That said, the GDP for both the US and Mexico has shown slow but steady growth the last two quarters, which points to somewhat of a recovery. This, in turn, should begin to send more tourists down our way and begin to refuel our local economy.

As a result of my new focus, I’ve started to let most of my lesser domains drop—sort of a spring cleaning before the spring. I’ll also be preparing a follow-up post that will highlight some of the domains we’re going to let go for 50 bucks or less.

Not only does this allow for a lighter load, it has empowered me to really focus on these two, very important projects during the start of the year.

This month I’ll continue to work nonstop on these projects and will be making a formal announcement regarding one domain name very soon!
